Scar Revision
Scars are from previous injury or from previous surgery can be quite bothersome when they are on exposed part like face & arm.
Scar maturation will take around a year, in this time we use medical management like ointments to minimize the scar.
Most scar will fade with time, If the scar doesn’t fade away then the ultimate plan is SCAR REVISION.
Even though we cannot remove the scar completely, we can improve the appearance through scar revision surgery

Hyper trophic Scar
- tend to grow up to 6 months and will eventually heal with thickened scar.
Keloid
- scar keeps on increasing in size and associated with itching, healed by thickened & raised margin. this condition can be treated with medical management. but if that does not improve, surgical techniques like excision and flap cover fallowed by steroid injections or radiation therapy can be used, but recurrence rates are high.
Contractures
- Contractures are the result of burns, injury or surgical procedures when occur in joint folds as they will restrict the movement of joints.
Scar revision is a surgical procedure in which we excise the complete fibrous tissue and close the wound by suturing in various techniques so that the tension over the sutured line will be minimised like z-plasyt, multiple z-plasty, skin grafting or flap cover.
